Top Spring and Summer Trends from our Favorite Bloggers

“Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes.
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things”

Snowflakes might be Julie Andrews favorite things, but I am pretty excited about the white winters that have melted into spring and now summer! Most of those who know me well know that I am not a winter person. I don’t like snow, I don’t like being cold and I certainly don’t like the icy roads that come with it. This winter I was perfectly content with Christmas being 60 degrees and allowing my "Casper-like" legs to be rocking some shorts in February. But now that the warmer temperatures are consistently here to stay, I’m constantly checking out the spring and summer styles for what will be my “go-to” look for 2017. I know that I’m not the only one doing that, so I reached out to some of my favorite bloggers to get an idea of their favorite trends, as well as some of their go-to pieces!

What’s your favorite spring fashion trend for 2017 that you’re seeing?

Florals! So colorful, bright and cheery!:) I also love the athleisure trend because now I have an excuse to wear my comfy workout clothes all day!

How do you include accessories into your every day outfits?

I usually keep my clothes very basic, neutral and classic. My shoes and accessories are my pops of color. I actually don't like shopping for clothes, but I do LOVE shopping for accessories (especially since I can easily order those online and not have to worry about them fitting). I love how, by switching out accessories, you can completely transform an outfit, and stay on-trend!

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry in your closet?

Aside from my wedding ring (I have to say that! Haha!) I have a big chunky necklace that has everything from gold, silver, pearls and chains. I can dress it up, down and everywhere in between. It's always my go-to piece to add to an outfit when nothing else seems to look good. It matches anything and I always get compliments on it!

What’s one piece of clothing in your closet you can’t live without / couldn’t part with?

Something I couldn't do without is probably one of my (yes I have multiple) cotton long sleeve black dresses. I love using it as a base and layering on a vest or sweater, different tights or tall socks and boots in the fall. I can dress it up or down with an easy switch out of accessories and shoes!

Oooh, that's hard! I would have to say that I have 2 favorites and they are:
1. New Shirting

How do you include accessories into your every day outfits?

For me personally, accessories tend to be the "focal" point of my look. So, I often start by selecting the accessory I want to wear for the day and build my look from there!

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry in your closet?

Without question, my favorite piece of jewelry is the 30 Inch Vintage Monogram from Delicate Raymond Jewelry Bar. I've had it for 4 years and it's on constant repeat!

I'm currently obsessed with a fantastic pair of rip and repair jeans from Madewell! I wear them at least 3 times per week. Granted they are already distressed, but they are starting to wear down and I can't imagine being without them.

What’s your favorite spring fashion trend for 2017 that you’re seeing?

My favorite trend for Spring that I've seen (so far) is large florals. Yeah, I get that's very much like that Devil Wears Prada quote (florals for spring ... groundbreaking). But I love the large print, where the focus isn't necessarily on the flowers, but the swatches of bright colors and pattern.

How do you include accessories into your every day outfits?

Incorporating accessories is pretty easy for me. I love earrings and rings (so I have a TON of 'em). Most of the time, I like to wear at least one accessory every day. It's usually a pair of earrings. I like to pick a color from the outfit I'm wearing and have my earrings match that; it's not generally the principal color of my LOTD, but an accent that I think the earrings help tie into.

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry in your closet?

My favorite piece of jewelry in my closet is actually two things (both rings). One is a gold ring that's a silhouette of a cat. It's from a local Columbus maker (ONE SIX FIVE Jewelry) and really lets the world know that I'm a weird little cat lady at heart. The other is a gold ring too that's a whole body skeleton. It's very delicate looking (from NY designer VERAMEAT), but also really fascinates me and showcases my rather dry humor and morbid curiosity.

I have a large men's white tee that's splattered painted. It's super baggy and fun looking. A friend of my sister's made it (about 5 years ago) and I love it. It's fun, colorful, and just makes me happy when I wear it.

What’s your favorite spring fashion trend for 2017 that you’re seeing?

I have a few favorite trends for Spring / Summer of 2017. First, I absolutely love the “insta-worthy” earrings that InStyle mentioned in January. Big, chunky, statement earrings are an amazing go to piece that makes any outfit go from cute, to WOW. I am also loving the long, chunky necklaces!

I really love throwing on a long necklace with a button down, a v-neck shirt, etc. and I love that there are still the chunky statement necklaces that are close to your neck, but now we are getting to statement pieces that are long pendants. It’s fabulousss! *Disclaimer: Mom’s with small kiddos… careful with these. They break easily.

In terms of clothing, I love these off the shoulder floral tops that I’m seeing. I haven’t found the perfect one for me yet, but you can bet that I will be soon!

How do you include accessories into your everyday outfits?

Lately I haven’t had time to go shopping, so I have really been trying to use accessories to make my outfits feel “new”. I typically always have some sort of bracelet on, but I also try to add some chunky necklaces to plain shirts to give it a little more pop. I like pairing colorful necklaces with a black or white t-shirt, as well as wearing long necklaces with oversized sweaters. I also love taking a very simple dress and putting a colorful necklace with it!

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry in your closet?

I have three favorite pieces of jewelry, and honestly they aren’t from Miss Em’s (shameful, I know). My first is my wedding ring / band. Obviously this is a very meaningful piece for me (as it should be).

The second is a necklace that my husband gave for me for our wedding. He had my Grandmother’s wedding ring turned into a necklace. The beauty of it is, they kept the setting and the diamond all in tact, and were able to add prongs and a chain to make it the perfect piece. When he gave it to me I couldn’t believe it. It put my mom to tears when she saw that I would be wearing her mom’s diamond while walking down the aisle.

And last, is a sapphire ring that my husband gave me when we first started dating. I previously owned another sapphire ring, but had lost it during a softball game. He gave me one for Christmas and I have been wearing it ever since.

What’s one piece of clothing in your closet you can’t live without / couldn’t part with?

I’m not good at giving just one answer…. I have two pairs of Betsy Johnson heels that I can’t part with. One I wore when I was on the homecoming court for Ohio State and the heels have an amazing red bow on them. I have worn them a few other times, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to part with them. The other are my wedding shoes that are so incredibly sparkly and perfectly feminine. Clothing wise I can’t part with a black jacket that I have that has leather on the sleeves. It makes any outfit I pair with it seem just a little bit edgy.
